On Tuesday, Jan Smit received a festive welcome from Dutch Consul General Frans Bijvoet at his official residence, as well as a special career award for '20 years of Jan Smit in Belgium'.
This award marks the definitive start of the Belgian anniversary year for the popular folk singer, culminating in the Jan & Alleman concert at the Sportpaleis on Saturday, March 10, 2018. "I don't know how many times we've driven past the impressive Sportpaleis, but as a young boy I already dreamed of being able to give a concert there at least once in my life.
I will be playing all my hits with my live band, and there will also be guest artists joining me for duets. It was already known that my friend André Hazes would be coming, and today I am incredibly proud to announce that the girls from K3 have also agreed to join us. I will be working with Hanne, Marthe, and Klaasje for my Sportpaleis concert and beyond. Together with my children, who are big K3 fans, I am incredibly happy and proud that they will also be there. I am looking forward to writing a song with their team and Miguel Wiels, but I will also be touring the Netherlands with K3," says Jan Smit enthusiastically.
After the launch of their multi-gold and platinum album '10,000 Balloons', Hanne, Klaasje, and Marthe won the Radio 2 Summer Hit trophy last year with 'Ushuaia', and the album of the same name confirmed their success story. K3 has just had a busy summer with lots of performances. On television, De Avonturen van K3 (The Adventures of K3) and Iedereen K3 (Everyone K3) are big hits, and the trio is also ready to strike with a new album, linked to their first cinema film, K3 Love Cruise.
