A can can roll strangely... In the summer of 2024, a group of boys from Volendam decide to write a fairground song for the fast-approaching annual village festival. Based on the tried-and-tested Limburg Carnival song "Vandaag" by W-DREEJ, they concoct BLIKKENDAG.

The lyrics of BLIKKENDAG recount the coronavirus period when young people were unable to meet up in bars or at home for some much-needed socializing. In Volendam on the Slobbeland, not coincidentally also the place where the annual fair is held, they found each other in the safe open air, naturally with a cold beer! And the song BLIKKENDAG was, of course, sung in the Volendam dialect, as tradition dictates!

It became THE fairground hit of 2024!

After the fair, Sven Versteeg released a Dutch version of the song, and it became an unparalleled party anthem. Now, people all over the country sing BLIKKENDAG in cafés and party tents! For example, 2024 was brought to a stylish close during AVROTROS STERREN.NL's Music Festival of the Year with this smash hit!
