Tribute to The Cats on MAX television!

The Cats were one of the most successful Dutch bands of the 1970s. They scored dozens of hits, including "One Way Wind," "Where Have I Been Wrong," and "Lea." In the program The Cats nog één keer samen (The Cats together one more time), a tribute, Jan Slagter reminisces with all the band members who are still alive. This unique tribute can be seen on Sunday, January 1, at 9:30 p.m. on MAX on NPO 2. Earlier that day, the concert in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Tribute to The Cats Band will be broadcast. MAX will broadcast this anniversary concert on January 1 at 5:10 p.m. on NPO 2.

The four surviving band members are between 70 and 80 years old and still live in Volendam. Especially for the programThe Cats Together Once More, a tribute, all the Cats have made time for this special gathering: a unique, one-time reunion. The music ofThe Catsplays the leading role in this tribute. Jan Slagterreminisces with lead singerPiet Veerman, bassistArnold Mühren, guitaristJaap Schilder, and guitaristPiet Keizerabout the band's heyday, the pressure, and the fun they had during their glory days.

's star status The Catswere the founders of the palingsound and paved the way for all subsequent pop musicians from Volendam. They sold more than 13 million records, cassette tapes, and CDs and were hugely popular both at home and abroad. In Indonesia, they enjoyed star status comparable to the hysteria surrounding the Beatles. The band had no fewer than thirty-six Top 40 hits, five of which reached number 1. Between all the performances, hits had to be written: the pressure was intense, and that had consequences for the band members. The Cats were the first band from Volendam to become so famous; no one had any experience with this kind of success.
