The 3JS from Volendam and Rowwen Hèze from Limburg are all known for their love of folk music. Irish music, Balkan music, accordions, and acoustic guitars. They have known each other for almost 20 years now and enjoy their musical similarities. Wasn't it time to celebrate their musical friendship with a song?
Jack Poels:
"A phone call from Volendam, asking if Rowwen Hèze would like to collaborate on a song for the local fair. I looked outside. People were walking in single file through the village. Young and old on their way to a party on the first Sunday in July. It happened to be fair time in America. It was meant to be. An hour later, I was sitting with friends and acquaintances in the party tent next to our local pub. The lyrics for the new song, ‘Neem er nog een’ (Have another one), wrote themselves.”
Jan Dulles:
"As we get older, we realize that friendships and fond memories are all that remain. You suddenly start to appreciate the romance and value of things that used to be so obvious and 'normal'. Like getting together in a bar with friends you've known all your life. People around you start to disappear, so every party you can still celebrate together is a special one. That's why we sing: Have another one... and enjoy it as if it could be your last. Every glass is like a pearl on the crown."
