On the program "Aan de Slag" with Bart Arens on NPO Radio2, the 3JS received a call this morning with the challenge of writing a song about the coronavirus crisis. The band accepted the challenge, and after 2.5 hours, "Voor Hen Die Wachten" could be heard live on the radio.
The song had to be ready before the end of the morning and it had to be about the people who are waiting right now. Patients waiting for treatment, elderly people sitting alone at home waiting for their families to be allowed to visit again, and basically everyone who is waiting for answers and solutions in these uncertain times.
Singer Jan Dulles: "The race against time to write this song was actually typical of the situation many of those waiting are currently in. We are waiting for a storm to pass over us and have no idea what damage it will cause or how long it will last."
