Jan Smit's new single was released today. The song, titled "Ik Zie" (I See), is the first single from his new studio album "Met Andere Woorden" (In Other Words), which will be released on September 20. None other than Edwin Evers was asked to write the track.

The single "Ik Zie" was written especially for Jan by Edwin Evers. Over a year ago, Jan approached Edwin to write a song for his new album. The album "Met Andere Woorden" (In Other Words) is a collection of 12 new songs written by well-known Dutch composers. The idea behind the song is that after breaking up, you may miss what you already had. "Because now I see what I never saw before"

In addition to the single, three other new songs have also been released digitally. These include Hé Mooie Meid, written by Thomas Berge, Zomer In Het Land, written by the 3JS, and Mocht Je Weggaan Vandaag, written by Racoon, which can be streamed online viathis link.

A year and a half ago, Jan Smit came up with the idea of asking 12 respected colleagues in the industry to write a song for him. Perhaps it would be that one song they felt he should have sung all along, or perhaps it would be a new, challenging style he would never otherwise have tried. Complete freedom for the composer, with—as always—the trusted collaboration of musical genius Thomas Tol, who took on the entire production.

In addition to Edwin Evers, Jan also managed to secure Sanne Hans, Barry Hay & JB Meijers, Guus Meeuwis, Paskal Jakobsen & Peter Slager from Bløf, Racoon, 3JS, Thomas Berge & Frank Boeijen for this project.

This entire project is supported by a theater tour entitled Met Andere Woorden (In Other Words). The tour starts on September 26 in Zaandam and ends on December 20 in Winschoten. Tickets are available atwww.ntk.nl.
