It came about spontaneously, the catchy tune "Altijd" by Gert Verhulst, Jan Smit, and James Cooke. Two weeks ago, Jan, along with Kristof Calvo and Jacky Lafon, stayed as a guest on Gert and James' boat for a week. "An adventure I will never forget," says Jan Smit enthusiastically. "They know exactly how to pamper their guests, and behind the scenes it was just as much fun as it was on television. When you're stuck together non-stop for four days, you forge a special bond, and that was inspiring for 'Altijd', an up-tempo song that was written with Gert and James on the boat. Last week, we recorded the song in the studio and took the opportunity to shoot the video clip right away. The three of us sing about unconditional friendship, and in the meantime, the bond between us has become so close and strong that I'm looking forward to promoting this song. Gert and James are the first guests on 'Jan & Alleman, Jan Smit's sing-along concert', which will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2020, at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp. The idea is that everyone will sing along at the top of their lungs when we start 'Altijd'.

Jan had brought his guitar with him when he came on board. The idea came about spontaneously, and by the end of the first evening, the melody and chorus were already in place. The next morning, everyone on board, as well as our editorial staff, was singing along loudly to 'Altijd', a catchy tune we couldn't ignore. It's radio-friendly, very singable, and extremely infectious. Even the biggest sourpuss will cheer up when they hear it, at least I hope so," says Gert Verhulst.
After K3, KLUBBB3, and De Romeo's, Flanders now has another musical trio: Gert Verhulst, Jan Smit, and James Cooke. "We've already had a lot of fun and it's only going to get better," says James Cooke. "We're going to share the positive feeling and energy that 'Altijd' radiates with as many people as possible. We're going to promote it intensively and, of course, the aim is for everyone to know it by October 10, 2020, and sing along when we're at the Sportpaleis."
