Hoofd Leeg, Hart Vrij was written by Jan Smit together with Matthijs Buwalda. The production was, of course, once again in the hands of Thomas Tol, and the mixing and mastering was done by Matt Butler (who has worked with Paul McCartney and Dire Straits, among others) at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.
Three years ago, Jan released his gold album Met Andere Woorden (In Other Words). It was a project in which respected colleagues from the industry wrote songs for him. Bløf and Miss Montreal were among the line-up. It was a special album, but without any songs written by Jan himself. That is about to change, because this second single is from his new album, which will be released in the fall of 2022.
The clip was recorded in Amsterdam, where Jan felt it was important to celebrate the live feeling together again after two years of Covid.
"Hoofd Leeg, Hart Vrij" is about feeling good about myself and the fact that we are all heading into a beautiful, open summer," says Jan Smit.
