Today, the brand new single "Ik Wil Slapen" (I Want to Sleep) was released. The track is a spontaneous and special collaboration between the occasional trio Jan Smit, Alain Clark, and Glen Faria.
The three gentlemen were in Ibiza for the AvroTros television program "De Beste Zangers" (The Best Singers). After their first evening, Jan, Alain, and Glen discussed how they felt on the beach. This resulted in this summer single on the same day.
"Actually, there isn't a single song that sings about just wanting to go to bed, even when you're at the bar," according to the trio.
Once back in the Netherlands, the gentlemen immediately drove to the studio to record the track. Trijntje Oosterhuis also came by to provide backing vocals. Alain Clark's last Dutch-language release was more than 10 years ago, which makes this song even more special. After writing hits for Ali-B & Boef, among others, this collaboration is a special musical excursion for Glen Faria.
For Jan Smit, this single heralds a new era. His new album will be released on September 20, immediately followed by a theater tour throughout the Netherlands. Both the tour and the album are called "Met Andere Woorden" (In Other Words). Tickets areavailable here.
