Nick & Simon's new album, entitled Aangenaam, was released today. Aangenaam is Nick & Simon's seventh studio album in eleven years and includes the singlesZing! (feat Jayh)andWelkom. For the first time, they made an album together. That may sound a little strange for such an inseparable duo, but Nick & Simon always wrote separately before, because they work so differently.
The album was created in collaboration with producer Gordon Groothedde. "The lyrics are different, much better actually. Maybe it has to do with where we are now. Last year we celebrated our tenth anniversary, we've been through so much, and yet time has flown by," says Nick. Simon: "Only now do I notice that a recurring theme is slowing down. Put on the brakes for a moment. Take a look at where you are in life, be satisfied with it. Is it a matter of growing up? Yes and no. Some songs are actually very immature—in a good way, uninhibited. I'm happy about that. I hear a lot of creative freedom on this record. It shouldn't be too serious and responsible."
Last night, a select number of fans had the opportunity to listen to the new album before its release during the exclusive Spotify Fans First Event at the W Hotel in Amsterdam. Tonight, the gentlemen will be guests on RTL Late Night. Starting this Saturday, the first of a series of Mediamarkt in-store events will take place throughout the country.
The album Aangenaam will be released in three different versions: a standard version with 10 tracks, a deluxe edition with 15 tracks, and a transparent vinyl with 10 tracks. For a preview of the album, check out the album samplerhere.
The release of Aangenaam marks the start of an extensive tour of 55 theaters, with the band that also plays on the album. The theater tour kicks off on October 11, and tickets are available via NTK.nl
