This year, Volendam Music is well represented in the "Celebrate Christmas with us edition" of Aan Tafel! on RTV Utrecht. Presenter Conny Kraaijeveld welcomes well-known guests, including Inge Ipenburg, Mari van de Ven, and Ron Brandsteder. The chef prepares delicious dishes every day, and there is live music. This year's guests include 3JS and Henk Dissel.
Last Monday, December 10, Henk Dissel was our guest. He sang "Hou Van Mij," "Kerstmis," and "Winter Wonderland" and talked about what Christmas means to him and his career, which has taken off. "A lot has happened in a short time. A few years ago, I was still performing as a guest with the Toppers, and now I'm giving an almost sold-out show in the Brabanthallen." Despite all the hustle and bustle, he enjoys his work: "I try to get as much out of it as possible, and that means working hard, because I do about 250 performances a year. But that was what I always dreamed of when I was little, so that dream has come true!"
The next day, 3JS made their appearance. They also played their own version of "Winter Wonderland," which is clearly different from Henk Dissel's. Later, they also played "Frosty the Snowman." It's no surprise that these songs will also be played during the Acoustic Christmas tour. Conny was naturally very curious about baby James and remarked that Dulles looked well-rested despite his newborn son. "That's right! He sleeps well and is very sweet." Fatherhood has enriched his life, he says. "I feel different since his birth, happier."
The past year was dominated by the album "Nu," about which Jaap says that they liked the different approach for this album, but "we're going to do something completely different again for the next album." Ultimately, they will still be 3JS songs, says Jaap. "We write and play them ourselves, so it will never be completely new."
This Christmas, the band will once again celebrate in the theater, as has become customary. De Witte: "We're used to it by now and simply invite our families to come to the theater to eat and drink and celebrate Christmas."
